Message from John,
  “How large do we grow until we need a paid staff?” The operation of an organization this size functioning with all volunteers has its challenges for sure. These challenges are easily overcome by the enthusiasm of the “behind the scenes” volunteers.  A special word of thanks to those who spend hours traveling to packaging events, organizing, loading & unloading trucks, bookkeeping and the many other tasks that are created by the growth of this organization.  We could not remain a 100% volunteer organization without them. 
    The donations we have received says loud & clear that you believe in what we do!  I feel a tremendous responsibility to make sure every dollar given whether as a memorial of a loved one, the change from a Kindergarten student, the 49 nickels given by an elderly women or the money from hard working people is used as the giver wishes them to be.  In the fast pace of life and business it is easy for me to become anxious about financial matters & decisions that need to be made each day. It all seems so insignificant when I remember the children in orphanages or the mothers that have to decide which child they cannot feed that day.  When I see the joy on the faces of the children and adults as they are packaging reminds me how important our work is.  Faith and works coming together will allow us to continue.  All should share in the joy of the accomplishment of reaching 10,000,000 meals.  We hope we are only in the infant stages of reaching future goals.  Thank you everyone for everything you do.

Please remember us when you are considering making a contribution to a worthwhile cause.  When someone packages for 2 hours the cost of the ingredients is about $25.00.  We have never charged a fee to anyone who wants to help us package.  We have functioned with the following premise:

  • Everyone should be allowed the opportunity to help others so no one is turned away that wants to help package.
  • The food is never sold for monetary gain or profit.

Your contributions have made this possible.  The financial existence of Kids Against Hunger is truly dependent on those who support us.  100% of these funds have been used for the acquisition of the bulk food ingredients.
